Inspiration

Moments that haunt you.
Whether or not you belong.
Times you can’t remember.
When you barely got along.

Inspiration strikes at random,
It never last too long.
Yet, sad, drunk or horny
Are the keys to write a song.

Religion Blues

Jesus is my Savior,
Since no-one else applied.
Nuns taught me how He lived,
Priests told me how He died.

I used to read the Bible,
The Good Book, so they say.
I found it on a CD,
So, in my car, I’d pray.

I wonder if He watches me,
How I daily live my life.
I hope I make Him happy,
I don’t want to cause Him strife.

Someday, I will meet Him.
Maybe even meet his Dad.
I guess I’ll have to wait and see.
I’d better not be bad.

Gift Rappin’

I found my Christmas present.
It’s in a big old shiny box.
I hope that’s it’s a present,
And not just a pile of rocks.

All the other presents
Are underneath the tree.
Some my brother paid for,
And some he took for free.

I got my lover a Ferrari.
It’s shiny, new and red.
I hope she like car models,
Or we’ll never go to bed.

I got my wife a present,
A back scratcher for her itch.
I don’t know why I got it,
She’s usually a …

Hard person to shop for.

Peace Out!

Ellie’s Song

I’m gonna drool
‘Till I go to school.
Then, I’m gonna drool
Some more.

I’m gonna drool
Sitting on my stool,
‘Till there’s puddles
On the floor.

Drool cleans the dirt
On my Grandpa’s shirt.
But it leaves a mess
On Grandma’s dress.

So, I’m gonna drool
‘Till I go to school,
‘Cause while droolin’
I’m the best.

Turkey Day Blues

It’s Thanksgiving,
And I’m so blue.
I wanted that drumstick,
Mom gave it to you.

I’m chewing on turkey,
It’s dry to the bone.
I need some more gravy,
Or I’m going home.

I’m having my dessert,
Some great pecan pie.
It makes up for the green beans.
The onions made me cry.

Happy Thanksgiving, y’all!

Tragedy

Millions sleep with our C-PAPs,
To avoid a slow death by snore.
This is not nearly as tragic,
As fresh doggie poop on your floor.

Our families came through the Depression,
When life could seem very hard.
This is not nearly as tragic,
As a lizard coming in from the yard.

Your ancestors were at Vesuvius,
Some perished, covered in soot.
This is not nearly as tragic,
As fresh doggie pee on your foot.

Today, we had some crises.
Let’s all take a deep breath.
Pee, lizards and poop won’t kill you,
Stop crying and plotting their death.

Sometimes

Sometimes you’re soft,
Sometimes you’re tough.
You’re always doing your best,
Sometimes, that’s just not enough.

Your parents will love you,
They’ll try to make you a man.
Sometimes, they just scar you,
By doing the best that they can.

Sometimes, you’re happy,
Sometimes, you’re hurt.
Just keep trying to reach higher,
Sometimes, you’ll rise from the dirt.

Your friends will support you,
They all stand by your side.
Sometimes, you’re alone,
Since they’ve decided to hide.

Sometimes, you’re working,
Sometimes, you’ll play.
Just do what you believe in,
Sometimes, it will finally pay.

Hidden Messages

Heard about a poet.
English chap, I’m told.
Left messages in poems.
Protected in simple code.

Many failed to find them.
Years went by until he passed.

Why no one ever saw them.
I never thought to ask.
First, I thought “Too clever”.
Everyone missed the clues.

Perhaps, nobody listened.
Only husbands have the blues.
I’m sure someday they’ll find him.
Somewhere in the fields.
Only time will tell, I guess.
Never drop your shields.
Even when you think it’s safe,
Don’t ever be too sure.

Many men have gone before.
Ever thinking they’re secure.
