National Poetry Writing Month (April)
It’s time to rise and go to work.
My dog rolls over with a smirk.
There’s a pounding in my head.
I wonder how to work from bed.
Two cups of coffee for my thirst.
The second cup to wake the first.
It was a very long night indeed.
But a little longer now, I plead.
I should be functional by noon.
At least it will be the weekend soon.
A small crunchy snake.
A multitude of birds.
Three little rats.
A baby bunny.
My Chihuahua has killed them all.
So, now, I wonder.
When he leans over to lick me,
Is is affection? love? respect?
Or measuring me for a death shake ?
We have a new coffee pot.
It is very technically advanced.
It has a pot for 12 cups on one side.
It has a pod for a K-cup on the other.
I guess you could have coffee
While you are waiting for your coffee.
Choices, so many choices.
So early in the morning.
It has a timer to start coffee.
I wish I had known that last night.
I finally had a Coke.
You just pour it in a cup.
That will be caffeine enough.
At least enough to learn the coffee pot.
All my cans are in the special bin.
All my glass and bottles, too.
I to save the Earth from trash.
So why can’t I recycle you?

After terminating a lot of old folks,
By making them move into the office,

I finished my taxes Thursday.
This was a day early.
Actually, it was four days early.
The deadline changed again.
Taxes used to be simple.
April 15th.
The Ides of April.
(Just realized that.)
April 15th is my birthday eve.
So, that also made it easy.
If I was trying to avoid a party,
My taxes were due.
I guess it’s now a floating holiday.
Just like all the other holidays.
