Bacon, lettuce and tomato
Crispy French fried potato
I almost had a bean burrito.
My co-workers are relieved.

Late Friday afternoon.
A speaker brought me to my knees.
It’s 2:59pm.
He just said, “Next slide, please.”
Friday afternoon
Weekend starting very soon
Is it five o’clock?
Empty coffee cup.
Catching up on all my mail.
There’s a meeting soon.
It’s time to rise and go to work.
My dog rolls over with a smirk.
There’s a pounding in my head.
I wonder how to work from bed.
Two cups of coffee for my thirst.
The second cup to wake the first.
It was a very long night indeed.
But a little longer now, I plead.
I should be functional by noon.
At least it will be the weekend soon.
Are you sure today wasn’t Friday?
Can you check again?
Can we pretend just this once?
Maybe it’s a Leap Year?
After terminating a lot of old folks,
By making them move into the office,
It turns out people can work at home.
From sometime in 2020
Start with coffee time.
Shower, shave, traffic, office.
Meetings, work, traffic.
Time to go to work.
Time for some coffee.
Time for lunch.
Is it the weekend?
Is it five o’clock?
Almost?
I gave up coffee for Lent.
The inspiration was heaven-sent.
I survived the headache.
Now I don’t even shake.
It wasn’t the coffee I miss.
It’s the little breaks of bliss.
Now I’m at my desk all morning.
Whether it’s dry or even storming.
I just sit at work until lunch.
I stare at the screen a bunch.
I don’t even miss the caffeine.
I just zzzzzzzzzzz.
